At Entity Construction, we've worked on a wide range of residential and commercial projects in 2025, from office spaces to shared living environments. One thing we've seen repeatedly is the power of colour. The right palette can transform dull, uninspired interiors into thriving hubs of productivity, creativity, and social interaction.

Based on our experience this year, here are the top five home paint combinations that made the biggest impact for our commercial clients — and why they work.

Colour combos:

1. Egyptian Cotton Walls with White Woodwork
Classy, warm, and timeless

Egyptian Cotton is essentially a refined take on magnolia, but with a richness and elegance that instantly elevates a space. It brings warmth without being overpowering, and when paired with crisp white woodwork, it creates a sophisticated contrast that feels both modern and classic.

We used this combination at a retirement village in Bedford, transforming lift lobbies, activity rooms, and office spaces into much more polished and welcoming environments. It’s a subtle but powerful upgrade that adds value without shouting for attention.

2. Timeless White Walls and Ceilings with Light Grey Woodwork
Clean, sophisticated, and spacious

Shelves display plants and magazines beside paint swatches: Dulux Timeless (cream) and Warm Pewter (gray). A modern kitchen is visible.

This minimalist pairing is all about subtlety and sharp detailing. The white brightens and expands the space — making it ideal for corridors — while the light grey on woodwork adds contrast and depth without overwhelming the design.

We often recommend this for hallways with decorative mouldings or door frames, where the grey really helps architectural details pop. It’s a favourite for buildings aiming for a clean, professional look without sacrificing warmth.

3. Grey Walls and Blue Woodwork
Bold, elegant, and luxurious

Two paint swatches, "Dulux Sapphire Salute" in navy and "Dulux Frosted Steel" in light gray, on a blue wall above a bench with a pillow and a vase.

Grey and blue together create an upscale, high-impact look that wouldn’t feel out of place in a 5-star hotel. This colour combo is perfect for reception areas, meeting rooms, or shared lounges where you want to make a statement.

One word of caution: this combination requires meticulous surface prep. Any imperfections will be more visible due to the depth and richness of the colours. But with careful preparation and execution, the result is a bold, confident space that commands attention.

4. White on White
Versatile, modern, and budget-friendly

Sometimes, simplicity is the smartest choice. White walls and white woodwork create a clean, cohesive backdrop that lets furniture, lighting, and artwork do the talking. It’s ideal for commercial interiors that need flexibility — whether for retail, co-living spaces, or multipurpose buildings.

White also has the bonus of being cost-effective, both in materials and labour, which can be a huge factor when decorating large commercial properties. And because it pairs with almost anything, you’ll never be locked into a specific design direction.

5. Beige Walls and Brown Woodwork
Understated, warm, and deeply underrated

Cozy living room with floral wallpaper, wooden floors, beige tones. Paint swatches: Dulux Spiced Honey, Knotted Twine. Relaxed mood.

This combination doesn't get nearly enough love, but in our experience, it’s one of the most reliable and comforting palettes out there. The earthy tones of brown and beige bring warmth and richness to a space while maintaining a sense of neutrality.

When you choose the right shades, brown and beige feel far more premium than white, but are just as adaptable. It’s a perfect choice for communal spaces like lounges, cafes, and breakout rooms where you want comfort and style without being too bold.

These are just a few of the combos we’ve seen work well in real commercial settings this year. They’re not just trends — they’re choices that have helped our clients get more out of their spaces.
